OK so we’ve tried to use the “Italy for the Gourmet Traveler” as a guide to places to eat. Meh – following Ken’s rules seems to work as well or better. I think the author just flew through a few of these towns w/o really trying out much. So far I give the book a C+. Though we really haven’t had any bad food the author seems to limit what he reviews. In order the best pasta in Orvieto (according to Fran is):
1. Del Moro (for the Nidi pictured in the background though I liked the carbonara in the foreground too)
2. Trattoria la Pergola (for the tagliatelle with lamb ragu in the back ground, Fran’s tagliatelle with vegetables – peppers and zucchini - was great too). Travis and Kelsey this is where we ate outside one night, they’ve redone the inside, a bit too fancy for my tastes but the garden was still there.
3. Trattoria La Grotta (This was the most raved about in the “Traveler” book – meat and vege’s he says – his recommendations were OK but I make better).
