We're on a roll now

A number of accomplishments today.

The itinerary is set (look at the box on the right). We may change it when we get there but for now this is our plan.

We're working on transportation right now but it looks like all places are available via train.

I've got the the baby pc (netbook) all loaded up and tested for the trip. We've got our clothes laid out. We're considering new luggage - we seem to spend a few hundred on luggage every trip. Work is almost done (should be finished by Monday or Tuesday).

We've scoped out Air France and our transfer for our Paris to Naples flight. The Air France website has a number of helpful features including the ability to draw a map guiding you through de Gaulle between gates (We've only got an hour for our transfer). The amenities in L'Espace Affaires (business class) look great and they include "seats that convert into beds on all long-haul flights". I've NEVER slept on a plane other than fitfully. I just can't sleep sitting up or even partially reclining. Hopefully, with fully reclining seats, this is that "first time for everything". And the best part? The seats "even have a relaxing massage function". Magic Fingers in the air! I'm bringing a big bag of quarters.

More soon...

T Minus 1 Week and 4 days

OK we've got most of the Italy itinerary figured out.

After flying from home to Paris and then on to Naples we take a bus to Sorrento, we've given ourselves a day to recover and then three for the sights. Then we're off via train to Orvieto for a few days, the town is nice but we'll probably rent a car and explore the Tuscan/Umbrian country side. Next we catch to train Bologna for a few days followed by Parma for a few days. We've got a cooking school in Parma lined up. Last in Italy will be Santa Margherita for seafood and a mid trip break.

More soon on going form Santa Margherita to France.

T minus 1 week 6 days and counting

We are 1 week and 6 days from leaving for a month to Italy and France. I'm creating this blog so family and friends can keep track of our travels.

We're still frantically trying to figure out where we're going. We've got a starting point (Sorrento) and and end point (Paris) but little in between. We've got ideas for in between but nothing solid. This is the least planned we've ever been - in some ways it's nice and in others its a bit unnerving.

More soon.

Regards
