Haarlem at Night

We ate dinner tonight at the restaurant recommended by the guide book, the Italian one next to the one we mistakenly ate at on Wednesday night (see the earlier post).  The recommended restaurant had some things going for it: lively Italian waiters (I got to brush off my Italian), kitschy decor, and a lot of customers.  But the food wasn't on par with the place next door (the mistake).  The pasta was over done and over sauced.  At best it was meh, sort of Olive Garden-ey.  I guess publicity (i.e. being in the guide book) pays.  Lesson: go with your nose and instincts.

Tomorrow's a travel day.  We'll be headed to Brugge.  I'll have some train time so I'll write a bit more and post fewer photos.  I'm still struggling with jet lag so writing is hard but I'll try and talk about how travel sharpens observation which in turn feeds communication.  At least I hope I'm sharp enough to write about this.

We love our night walks in cities.  It's become a tradition to post night photos here.  So in keeping with the tradition.
