Back in Santa Margherita.
Some things are the same, some are gone, and some the same but different.
Our favorite restaurant (Il Nostromo - The Boatswain) is gone. Heres the 2009 post about it (I have sent friends here - it was a great restaurant): https://disbrowstravel.blogspot.com/2009/04/il-nostromo.html. There’s now a cooking school, wine bar, cafeteria, grocery store in its place:
Our old hotel (see https://disbrowstravel.blogspot.com/2009/04/maybe-tomorrow.html) has changed names but not much else:
So what’s the same? https://disbrowstravel.blogspot.com/2009/04/belt-story.html. Magically there’s no inflation on the price of belts in 15 years! As a matter of fact they are cheaper (the exchange rate is now about 1.10$ per euro):
Fun to see this place again. Have had a bit of rainy weather this AM. We were going to go to Portafino via boat but it was raining too hard (didn’t want to be inside on the boat but didn’t want to get wet). It’s clearing up this afternoon so hopefully we’d have a nice evening. We’ll probably be back but maybe in April (as in 2009) - there are more people than we remembered and they are preparing for the summer tourist rush so it’s a bit busier than we remembered. Still like the town.
