A walk

One of the things we love about the UK is that “walks”, we sometimes call them hikes, are everywhere. It’s one of the things that keeps drawing us back again. Private land owners allowing respectful passage through their properties is more the norm here than in the States. Today we walked in the Northumbrian countryside. We walked the “red” trail today (about 6 miles round trip from our hotel in Alnwick).

It was a beautiful but cold day. Made the walk all the more embracing. Here are are few of the highlights with a bit of commentary.

The trail takes you along the river Aln.

The walk was full of bridges.

Again a gorgeous day - cold despite being sunny. Glad we packed hiking clothes.

And lots of sheep.

The highlight of this walk was running across the Hulne Abby

The walk continues after the Abby over the “Iron Bridge”

The well marked trail ends half a mile from downtown Alnwick and our hotel. Fun day.
