Once again we’ve found Pavia beautiful and a “culinary delight” (it’s got good food). Short stay (just about 48 hours). It was enough for this trip but it might be fun to do a longer decompress period here after flying from the States.
As I said 10 years ago, there’s not a ton of historical sites. If you’re looking for Roman ruins or museums go else where. Lack of more touristy attractions is more than made up for by the quality of the food. We hit two places for food we’d come back to: Lino Bistrot (the little brother of the Michelan starred “Lino”) and Trattoria Della Modonna (we wrote about this back in 2013 - it’s changed ownership but the quality remains very high). There’s plenty of space to walk off meals too (the river makes for a great long walk).
We also realized this trip that the hotel we stayed in in 2013 (Aurora) is one door down from our hotel this trip (Moderno). Moderno is definitely an update. Here are a few pictures of Pavia (and us).
Looks wonderful! Personally, I love non-touristy. Beautiful place, beautiful food and my favorite people ♡♡
