Welp. Lovage was a disappointment. 4-5/10. Had such high hopes based on reviews and being given a Michelin mention.
Drinks.
I got an “orange old fashioned” and Fran got a pear martini. Her’s was OK, mine was overly sweet.
Starter.
We shared a buratta with chicory, poached pear, nuts, and olive oil. The buratta was bitter, so is the chicory, so was the olive oil. Overall a bitter starter based on a bad buratta.
I got turbot with a cassoulet of beans and chorizo. Turbot is a delicate fish and the chorizo overpowered it’s flavor. It was cooked nicely but this dish was just a bunch of unrelated parts on a plate that clashed with the fish.
Fran got Osso Bucco with a piece of veal shank. Her’s was good but it came with a side of mashed potatoes that just didn’t go with osso bucco. Again the ingredients weren’t in harmony.
To top it off the foursome that had our table next came in 20 minutes early. Basically we got the bums rush because someone else couldn’t figure out what time is was. Won’t be back to this one ever.
